Site difficulty ratings reflect operator consensus + recent dives by our author. Conditions vary — always confirm current visibility, swell, and access with your dive centre on the day.

How we rate difficulty

  • Beginner — DSD or Open Water minimum; max 18m; no significant current; sandy or simple bottom
  • Intermediate — Open Water + 25-30 logged dives; max 25-30m; mild current; reef or wall navigation skill
  • Advanced — Advanced Open Water + 50+ logged dives; depth 30m+; wreck penetration prerequisites or strong current

Operator difficulty ratings vary. We standardise across all sites so you can plan a week without re-calibrating per centre. Conditions on the day still vary — see the seasonality guide.
